Rakiraki
Just over 2 hours drive north from Nadi, through beautiful scenery, is Fiji’s Ra district right on the tip of Viti Levu. Rakiraki is an area that most tourists never see, but it is well worth a visit to see the 50+ dive sites only 20 minutes boat ride from your resort.
The famous diving here is Bligh Water, where you can see big animals and do fabulous drift dives over the coral heads. Photographers will be happy here with both wide-angle and macro photo opportunities everywhere. Sharkfin Point at Koro Island is a blinding array of colour with parrotfish, fusiliers and butterflyfish, and you can also see schooling barracuda, eagle rays and plenty of reef sharks.
Wananavu
Wananavu combines island paradise with mainland convenience. 34 deluxe bures each have air conditioning, ensuite and private deck, and are available with garden view, ocean view or beachfront settings. Meals are flexible according to your needs and you can either take a picnic lunch or dine in the restaurant with the resident Band Boys. In the evening the flares are lit and the kava bowl comes out.
The onsite dive centre makes diving easy and fun, and for the non-divers there are plenty of other activities such as tennis, kayaking, snorkelling and frisbee golf. Take a trip bamboo rafting, visit a village or go to the natural waterslide in the rainforest.
Volivoli Beach Resort
Only ten minutes from Rakiraki village is Volivoli, meaning “sand” in the local dialect. Accommodation options include 8-bed dormitories and twin lodge rooms, both with shared facilities, and the Balavu and Studio Vales, each with ensuites, air conditioning and stunning ocean views. Meals are served in the casual sandy-floor restaurant, and the pool bar is sure to entertain!
The onsite dive centre Ra Divers provides excellent service. Their experience means they can handpick dive sites to give guests the ultimate unique diving holiday.
